Privacy Policy

BiziKid ("we", "our", or "us") is an app that helps parents and guardians communicate with each other about their children's class groups. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what is necessary to run the app:

• Account information — your name and email address when you register.
• Profile photo — optional photo you upload to your profile.
• Student name — the full name of your child, used to identify them within the class. In the app, only the first name and surname initial (e.g. "Emma J.") are displayed to differentiate students with the same first name.
• Messages — chat messages you send within class groups.
• Posts and comments — content you publish to a class, including any attached photos.
• Device token — a push notification token issued by Apple (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can deliver notifications to your device.

3. How we use your information

• To provide the app's core functionality: class chats, posts, events, and notifications.
• To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• To send push notifications about activity in your class groups.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

4. Who can see your information

• Class members — your name, profile photo, messages, and posts are visible to other members of the class groups you join. Your student's first name and surname initial are visible to other members of the same class group.
• Group administrators — class representatives or teachers who administer a group can see all group content.
• BiziKid — we can access content stored on our servers for the purpose of operating and troubleshooting the service.

We do not share your data with any third party except as described in Section 5.

5. Third-party services

• Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — used to deliver push notifications. Your device token is shared with Firebase for this purpose. See Firebase Privacy.
• Azure (Microsoft) — our API and database are hosted on Microsoft Azure in the EU. See Microsoft Privacy.
• Resend — used to send transactional emails (e.g. account verification). See Resend Privacy.
• Photon / Komoot — location data (during school search at registration only) is sent to Photon, a geocoding API operated by Komoot GmbH, to find nearby schools. This data is not stored by BiziKid. See Komoot Privacy.

These providers act as data processors and are contractually required to protect your data.

6. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on servers located in the European Union. We use HTTPS for all data in transit and industry-standard security practices for data at rest. Passwords are never stored in plaintext.

7. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and content will be deleted within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

8. Students' data

BiziKid is designed for parents and guardians. Students are not users of the app, do not have accounts, and are never asked to provide data directly.

When you register a student, we store their full name. In the app, only their first name and surname initial are displayed (e.g. "Emma J.") — this allows parents to distinguish between students who share a first name. The full name is not shown to other users. We do not collect photos of students, health information, location data, or any other information about them.

The legal basis for this processing is contract performance under GDPR Article 6(1)(b) — it is necessary to carry out the service you signed up for. Because students are not users of the service, the child-consent provisions of GDPR Article 8 and Norway's Personopplysningsloven § 5 do not apply.

A student's displayed name (first name + surname initial) is visible to other parents in the same class group. This is necessary for the app to function. It is not visible outside the class group, not publicly searchable, and not shared with any third party beyond what is described in Section 5. It is deleted when you close your account.

9. Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data.
• Object to or restrict how we process your data.
• Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@bizikid.net. We will respond within 30 days. You can also file a complaint with Datatilsynet (Norway) or your local data protection authority.

10. Cookies and local storage

The BiziKid app stores preferences (such as your selected students and notification settings) locally on your device using iOS system storage. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you via the app or email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version.
